The Fluid Highway® is suitable for most pipeline market segments including oil and gas, process water, salt water, irrigation, slurry, potable water and wastewater.
Long Pipes has assessed the Australian and global pipeline markets to assess demand for the Fluid Highway® in the above market segments.
The primary target markets are potable water, wastewater, irrigation, produced water and low pressure gas. Most of the pipe required is from 300 mm to 500 mm outside diameter that is very suitable for the manufacturing process. The operating pressures are generally no greater than 25 bar that means only 4 to 5 layers of fibreglass are needed.
Operators around the world are interested in the Fluid Highway® due to its manufacturing versatility, the ability to apply additional layers of materials for strength and other characteristics, as well as the benefits of corrosion resistant and leak-proof inner linings.
The Different Industries we service
Markets Segment
Produced Water
The US Joint Venture will be making pipes for produced water commencing in the second half of 2020. Refer to the Long Pipes USA section for full details. Produced water is the wastewater produced from the shale gas/oil drilling process. In many wells the produced water is over 5 times the oil produced by volume.
Slurry
Long Pipes has worked closely with a number of companies to investigate the use of the Fluid Highway® in various slurry applications. As a result the Fluid Highway® is regarded as a premium product for this market with substantial cost savings achievable during construction.
Saline Water/Hot Brine
The polyurethane or nylon inner lining has high resistance to saline water and hot brine solutions.
Hydrogen
This is a potential future market for Long Pipes. Work is continuing on the development of the Fluid Highway® for hydrogen.
Oil and Gas
Long Pipes has had discussions with onshore and offshore oil and gas companies around the world.
The major markets are for produced water from shale oil and gas as well as low pressure gas .In the oil & gas sector, the coal seam and shale gas markets are large, particularly in North America where the Fluid Highway® can add significant value by competing with existing pipe materials. The Fluid Highway® has the advantage that it will be able to operate in very low temperatures and is not subject to brittle fracture. In Australia, the coal seam gas market presents an attractive growth market for the Fluid Highway®.
Process Water
The US Joint Venture will be making pipes for process water in Western Texas, commencing in the second half of 2020. Refer to the Long Pipes USA section for full details.
Potable Water
Potable water pipelines are generally shorter in length and often in urban areas where there are many fittings needed. While this segment is not a priority for Long Pipes, long length overland pipelines do present an attractive market opportunity for the Company.
Wastewater
Wastewater pipeline transport opportunities are well suited to the Fluid Highway®, as the polyurethane inner liner displays a high resistance to attack by wastewater.
